Question: Acevpn.com website is blocked by our filtering software, country, etc. Will your VPN still work?

Answer:

Yes our VPN will still work even if the acevpn.com website is blocked. Our VPN is designed to bypass any filtering even Great Firewall of China!

Question: I am in a country or location that monitors, blocks, or censors the Internet. Can I bypass the restrictions with your service?

Answer:

Yes you can! We believe in freedom of speech. We should be allowed to decide what’s good & what’s not. Countries like Belize, China (Shenzhen), Thailand, UAE (United Arab Emirates – Dubai Abu Dhabi), Iran, KSA, Egypt, Pakistan, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar – Doha, Palestine, Oman, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Mexico, Brazil & other Middle Eastern Countries are known to block Adult sites, Movie sites, Porn, VOIP, Skype, Google talk, Yahoo Instant Messenger or MSN IM. Ace VPN service encrypts all the traffic & doesn’t leave any trace about your online activities. Great huh!

Question: I visit handful of sites & don’t download often from internet. Do I still need your service?

Answer:

Of course you do. Most are not even aware of the traces they leave behind every time they use the Internet. These traces can often be used to uncover confidential information about their work and private life, and it is these traces that search engines and web portal providers collect and systematically analyze for marketing purposes. The internet you access is most likely monitored & logged
even if your ISP doesn’t tell you. Every country has its own data retention policy. In US ISP’s by law are required to log every IP you receive & every site you visit. This data is stored for undisclosed time. Do you really want a big brother to keep an eye on you & track every website you visit? Track the purchase you made
on Amazon?

Question: I am curious, how does a VPN work?

Answer:

When a packet is transmitted from a client, it sends it through an VPN gateway, which adds an Authentication Header for routing and authentication. The data is then encrypted and, finally, enclosed with an Encapsulating Security Payload which contains the decryption and handling instructions. The receiving VPN router/ server strips the header information, decrypts the data, and routes it to its intended destination.

With such a heightened level of security, an attacker must not only intercept a packet, but decrypt the packet as well. Intruders who employ a man-in-the-middle attack between a server and client must also have access to at least one of the private keys for authenticating sessions. Because they employ several layers of authentication and encryption, VPN’s are a secure and effective means of connecting multiple remote nodes to act as a unified intranet.

Question: Will it work over any type of Internet connection?

Answer:

Yes! Ace VPN service should work over any Internet connection – Wired, Wi-Fi and public hotspots. However we do recommend a broadband connection for best performance.

Question: What type of VPN service you provide or support?

Answer:

Ace VPN supports SSL VPN, PPTP and L2TP. PPTP and L2TP support is built into Microsoft Windows and no software installation is necessary. For SSL VPN you need to install OpenVPN which is an open source application.

Question: Will VPN slow down my internet access?

Answer:

Yes slightly but you wont notice the difference. Since the traffic is encrypted & sent along a tunnel there is some overhead which slows own the internet slightly. If someone claims otherwise they are not telling the truth!

Question: Do you offer either port forwarding or static IP addresses?

Answer:

At this time we do not offer static IP or port forwarding. Having port forwarding increases the security risk like hacking etc. and to protect our users we have it disabled. Static IP address makes it easy for the web sites to track or monitor. It defeats the purpose of VPN or privacy service!

Question: Do you retain IP addresses or other session logs when using your service?

Answer:

The logging gets activated only on certain abusive patterns like hacking, port scanning, spamming, etc. The logging is per user basis. This is only logged to track abusers and minimize further damage.

Question: Do all users surf under the same IP address?

Answer:

All users connected to the server shares the public IP and all traffic including DNS is encrypted using 1024 bit key. The private IP is dynamic.

Question: Where are your VPN servers? Do you maintain them youselves?

Answer:

We have servers in US, UK and France at the moment. In US we have servers in Illinois, Colorado, Florida, California. We plan to add more servers shortly in other locations. Our premium subscribers can access all the servers at no extra cost.

Yes we maintain our servers and we have full control over it.

Question: Can you tell me something about who you are (profession, reasons to run this service etc.)?

Answer:

We are security and IT experts. We also have programmers and network admins in our team. We wanted to give people an opportunity to protect their privacy without breaking their bank. Our premium VPN service costs about 15 cents a day, cheaper than a cup of coffee or even a candy.

Question: Do you offer server cascades, meaning that more each connection is passing more than 1 server?

Answer:

At this time we dont. We didn’t see any advantages of cascading. However our network is designed to provide a different IP from the one you are connecting. We can give out UK IP when connected to the France server and Maryland IP when connected to California server.

Question: Do you support OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP?

Answer:

Yes we support OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP and the same Ace VPN account works on all of them.

Question: Does your server accept VPN conections on other than the standard ports (in order to hide VPN traffic or circumvent port blocks)?

Answer:

Yes and we are also add ports if requested by our users.

Question: Would it technically be possible to couple pay data together with user names or, if saved, session logs?

Answer:

Technically anything is possible but we don’t do unless there is a reason like serious abuse. If any VPN provider is claiming they don’t, they wouldn’t be in business for long!!

Question: Is your anonymization access limited to web traffic (HTTP) or other ports or services?

Answer:

All traffic including DNS, VOIP, etc. is encrypted and tunneled through our network.

Question: Can your service be used without a proprietary software client?

Answer:

Yes. Any client supporting OpenVPN or PPTP or L2TP can be used. Our service can be used on routers, iPhone, iPod touch and many other devices.

Question: What payment methods do you offer?

Answer:

We accept credit card payments through paypal, moneybookers and libertyreserve. We can also accept bank or wire transfers.

Question: Where are your customers from?

Answer:

We have users from 135 countries and territories.

Question: Do you run your own DNS server? Who has power over it?

Answer:

Yes we do and we also use opendns as backup. Our commitment is to provide 100% uptime on our network though we advertise as 99.9% uptime.

Question: Can I use Acevpn on any number of computers and devices?

Answer:

Yes you can configure Acevpn on as many computers and devices as you like, though only one of them can be connected to the VPN at the same time. If you’d like more than one to be using the VPN simultaneously, you should get an additional account. We suggest you try our service first, then get more accounts as needed.

Question: Is there a way to save the username and password for automatic login via openvpn?

Answer:

We are working on a system to replace username and password authentication completely. But it might take little more time. Till then you could try this program http://vpngui.basj.org/openvpn/vpngui/ to save the password. It requires .Net framework 3.5. This would at least not require you to enter username and password every time.

The other option is to compile openvpn and enable save password option.

Question: I just changed my password using openvpn and now I cannot connect!

Answer:

Your old password is still active. Change password corrupts the certificate needed to authenticate with our network. Please download and replace your existing configuration files.

If you would like to change the password please let us know we will update it for you.
